Being ME

Hi, I’m a consultant, a (fiction) writer, and a human being.

And I’m practicing being me. Being true to myself and bringing that whole self to work, to family and relationships, to everything in this one precious life.

If I truly believe what I preach / teach / coach… that connection is at the core of everything… and that to form meaningful human connections we need to show up as our true selves, to “embrace our weird”, to be vulnerable… then I need to lead with that. To model that. To be that.

As I’m on the journey (#needanewwordforjourney) to reconnect with who I truly am (because I’ve always been me, but some parts have been separated or suppressed by limiting beliefs / people pleasing / living in the past or fretting for the future)… I’m now holding myself accountable… publicly. If it’s out in the world – and the sky doesn’t fall… if I can post / live / be my authentic self – as exposing as that might seem… then I’m closer to the goal (genuine human connection… not the number of views and likes).

Therefore, I’m going to show up regularly (spelling mistakes and all) and be myself, share my bite-sized (imperfect) wisdom nuggets / truth bombs / thought bubbles. And forge / foster / strengthen human connection that might start here… but ends up rippling out beyond my wildest imagination!

Just imagine what’s possible?

So, keeping true to myself here are the thought bubbles that have come into my awareness lately… that you might find provocative, useful, or entertaining:

  • You can be your true self anywhere (even at work or on LinkedIn), there are no rules that say otherwise… maybe just some limiting beliefs, socialised norms, or other imaginary expectations / boundaries / armour.
  • It’s scary to be yourself outside of your inner circle… to put yourself out there for others to potentially judge you, provide unsolicited feedback, or even to misunderstand your meaning or intent altogether.
  • The trick is to be steadfast in knowing your true self, your essence, the intrinsic nature of who you are at your core. And what you’re striving to say/do/be. As well as being open to what’s possible and to constantly learn/grow/evolve.
  • (It also helps to believe most people are good, well intending human beings at their core).

Let me know if you have any thoughts ideas or suggestions around these. What might your limiting beliefs / people pleasing tendencies be and how are they holding you back. Maybe reach out to a friend/colleague/anyone! and explore what this means for you.

Human connection is key.
